Why the hell not?

This is an old post that I found that apparently I never published, maybe there was a reason for that?  Whatever, here's my post from August 1 that didn't make it to press the first go around!

Normally I would stay away from the topic of politics, but nobody is reading this blog anyway, so what the hell.

Here's my question, what are we voting for?  Really, what?  We think we are voting for representatives, people who will stand up for the voters, those of us who don't have millions to run for the Senate, but really it is all a beautiful hoax.  The rich get richer, why?  Because the rich are paying for the campaigns and lining the pockets of government officials.  So what happens?  Congressmen vote in ways that benefit the rich in order to continue to line their own pockets.  So not only are the wealthy receiving tax breaks at the expense of the middle class, but Congress would also like to take away "entitlements".  What is considered an entitlement?  Federal college grants, low interest student loans, medicare, social security...do you see a pattern here?  Let's take the once middle and lower classes who are already in a hole so deep they can't see the light above and throw dirt on them to make sure they are never able to climb out and then let's laugh at them as they roll to the polls on election day and optomistically cast their meaningless votes and lets call this a democracy.  Welcome to the land of opportunity, here's your shovel, you're going to need it...

  1. I took Isabella to the polls with me last week. I want her to understand the importance of voting. Many times I am discouraged and not sure it makes a difference but I keep trying. I know my other optionis to run myself and that is not a job I would like at all!
